At the end of March last year the Trust were awarded a grant from the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund to carry out two important pieces of work. From a standing start we had to move fast. Jonas and the team have been in place since June, you’re bound to have seen them in the High Street, in Tesco or maybe they’ve knocked on your door or for the lucky ones they have carried out an energy audit to your house.

The team have been very busy…….. OUR ENERGY AUDIT AND ADVICE SERVICE Energy Audits were carried out to individual households and businesses within the town. This was to help them save money on their energy bills and to reduce their CO2 emissions. Here are some comments from people we have helped….. One woman who received a £400 voucher from the Boiler scrapper scheme towards the installation of a new boiler said,” I think this project is of good value to any resident in Carluke and I would encourage everyone to get in touch with the team. There is always something new that you can learn, even if you think you have a more efficient house and you are ok with your energy use’’

A resident who installed triple glazing windows to keep heat in and road noise out said” I am very much appreciative of the energy advisors and the services they are providing for the community of Carluke. I think it is an excellent service, very informative; the advisors are nice and very friendly too. I would encourage members of the community to sign up to the project’’.

Mr Joseph Mangan said “The team have been fantastic. I received a whole new central heating system for free. There could be more people like myself in the area and I would hope to see the project continue”. Another resident Margaret Sneddon said “our 2.5KW system on our garage roof has been installed with plenty of time to get the Feed in Tariff paperwork submitted. Seriously, if it had not been for your input, I doubt whether or not we would have got moving on the project”

The feedback has been very positive with people finding their home visits useful, highlighting simple energy saving techniques, things to change to help reduce energy consumption, thereby reducing CO2 emissions and importantly, SAVING MONEY.
